The White House
Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at 4:10PM Last weekend I had the opportunity to tour the West Wing of the White House. Unfortunately there were no photos allowed inside, though we heard many times "you used to be able to take pictures in here, but not anymore". Hmph.
I got to say, it was better than I expected. I learned a lot of great history, and felt quite a rush when peaking into the Oval Office. The walls on the bottom floor of the West Wing were littered with photographs of President Obama, some taken as recently as two weeks before. I found myself more infatuated with the pictures than some of the artifacts/rooms we were walking through, but then I reminded myself where I was.
We were able to go out to the Rose Garden. Again, no pictures, but we got to see the "Beer Summit" patio set, which I had just seen on the news two days prior.
After the tour we met up with Erica and her mom at the Warf and had a wonderful meal of crabs, flounder, gumbo and sweat tea. A good way to end the day in my opinion.
